I can't help but find this situation humorous. I see that I do have a dark sense of humor. Let's say that I walk into a Rite-Aid.
Rite-Aid: That'll be $24.99 for a flu shot, maybe free depending if we accept your healthcare insurance.
???: May I ask what is the CDC confirmed effectiveness rate for the flu shot is?
At this stage the casual or radical leftist/centrist is unpredictable. I'd be surprised if you got a straight up answer of 18% effectiveness rate, which is 82% ineffective . So you are saying that 82% of people who got the flu shot also got the flu, as it was not effective? How else would they measure such a thing?
The fail rate is even slightly for small children and babes, at 85%. I bet that you will also find anecdotal evidence of many persons who received neither the flu shot nor the flu during the same season. How about that for a literal flu shot. It's surely not an anti-flu shot with 82% ineffective rate. What about the old people and small children and babes?
Of course there would turn up a little publicized (buried) gov't researchers report that basically says Yea no, kinda blowing the whistle here.
Some of these depraved drug dealers really need a Nuremberg trial moment. So you are saying that there's a multi-billions dollar drug cartel that pushes all these pills/pharmakeia and literal flu shots, and people purchase these literal flu shots? How about that. This may make an excellent segue into an argument from intellectual entropy.
We could take the whistle blow metaphor a bit further and note that it can be very soft whistle, as a human does not hear the dog whistle. I think it is only sheepdogs and a few wise sheep who even care. Most of the sheep would rather get along to go along with "the government MUST be our friend and protector, they wouldn't lie; no, that's impossible." Sorry Luke, not only is it possible, it is essential.
A relevant quote to end here is from Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's critical essay on sheepdog , a meme that is popular among military and police: "Here is the point I like to emphasize, especially to the thousands of police officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the sheep, real sheep, are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn’t have a choice. But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision."
